The class will prepare you to apply to be a Canadian Good Neighbour and an Introduction to Therapy work.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a therapy dog team? Do you wonder what is involved and what do they do? Have you wondered which organizations are available in the area, how to apply and what they are looking for in a team? In this class you will learn the difference between a therapy and service dog. While no special training is needed, basic obedience skills are required. You will learn what these are and you will get to learn and practice these skills. Being a therapy dog is a rewarding and enriching activity. Therapy dog teams provide affection, comfort and bring joy to the sick, lonely and those in need of a friendly visits in hospitals, seniors residences and care facilities, schools, universities and colleges as well as community centres and libraries.
